Project
Ed Ouellette and his team specialized in food & beverage photography, but were looking to shoot more industrial, cosmetics and people. Their work in all fields was current and impressive, but their website, which had not been updated in over four years, didn’t properly reflect that.

Background
A trusted brand in the Santa Clarita Valley for over 20 years, Ed Ouellette Photography already had a strong reputation among its large local client base. But a boom in area real estate meant a variety of new businesses moving in, including many in entertainment—an industry known for being on the bleeding edge of design. If the studio was going to reach this new audience, they would need to rethink their presentation.

Design Solution
We decided let the studio’s work speak for itself by making it the star of the new site. First, the Rian Design team went over Ouellette’s portfolio, assessing how best to organize and update the content. Next, we adjusted the scale of the photos to make them pop off the screen. Finally, we streamlined everything else to better show them off: A simplified palette along with the judicious use of Flash animation and color-coding made the site fresher and more user-friendly.

Results
The website continues to get rave reviews from current clients and allows studio Principal Ed Ouellette to pursue new business with confidence.
